My favorite (non-nursing) nursing cami!

Attention new moms and moms-to-be! I have found the perfect (non-nursing) nursing cami! If you’re anything like me, you need to wear a tank under everything these days so that you don’t show off your midsection when breastfeeding. I also hate wearing any kind of bra, but love the built-in shelf bras in those ridiculously expensive nursing tanks.

But thanks to teeny boppers and their need for shelf bras, I’ve found the perfect camis at Justice. These don’t unclip like the fancy nursing tanks, but the front is just stretchy enough to pull down without a problem. Bonus: they come in a million colors!

Right now you can buy two or more for $10.90 each, plus take an additional 40% off with the code “737″ at checkout. So stock up, mamas! You deserve it.

A quick word about the sizing: I would compare the size 18 to a small and they only go to size 20, so these camis aren’t for all ladies, unfortunately. But they are stretchy and perfect for wearing under all kinds of clothing, so it may be worth trying even if you are unsure of the size.

Is it pathetic that the only cyber deal I’ve taken advantage of is for camis from a teen girl’s clothing store? For myself? It may be pathetic, but when you find the perfect article of clothing that you’ll pretty much be wearing every day, you should jump on a good deal!

Two Words: Retail Therapy

Oh my goodness. It really is amazing what purchasing a few feel-good items can do for your spirits. While I’m not quite ready to spill about what’s been keeping me quiet for the last week, I am totally willing to show you what is cheering me up!

I’ve been searching the internet for a chambray shirt for months. The kind of shirt that can go with anything and work in so many ways. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend over $70 on the perfect shirt, so today I finally settled for Forever 21′s version. I love that this will not only work as a cardigan-type item for the last month of pregnancy, but will be perfect for after the baby is here, cause it’s got that easy-access thing going for it. Word.

button tab chambray shirt // $22.90

The next two items are things that I’ve been wanting, but really just added to my cart to get free shipping. It happens, y’all.

n/w shoulder bag // $27.80

pointed patent flats // $16.80

I can’t wait for fall! And clothes that fit!

P.S. Know what else works for getting your mind off things? Waxing. I kid you not.

Westley’s Simple Eclectic Nursery

The nursery is complete! To tell you the truth, I’ve been done with all of my crazy nesting for a few weeks now, but I was patiently waiting on Westley’s painting to arrive so that the room could finally be finished. One important thing to note about my choice of decor is that every single thing in this room has meaning. Sure, the modern nursery art you see so much of these days is super cute, but I wanted everything to have a purpose and a story. So what do you think?

Crib: Baby Mod Olivia from Walmart. Baby Mod is known for their modern nursery furniture. I saw this one and fell in love.

Painting: Made just for Westley by John Sandy. John is a fantastic artist and an old friend of the family. You can email him at johnsandy1153@yahoo.com if you are interested in some art of your own.

Chair: Best Chairs. This chair swivels, rocks and reclines. It is so comfortable for both me and Drew, which is a big deal because he is so tall that the back height really mattered.

Bird Pillow: An awesome flea market find!

Owl Night Light: Lamps Plus. How cute is that? Of course the birds had to represent in this room. Unfortunately, this night light and the pricier one at Land of Nod is no longer available.

Lamp: Target

Guitars: Drew and I both own guitars and thought that they would be the perfect addition to our tiny man’s room.

Book “Table”: All antique hand-me-downs, mostly about birds and art. My favorites!

“Have Big Dreams” Art: Handmade for Westley by a dear friend.

“As You Wish” Embroidered Circle: My mom ordered this for Westley, as a little reminder of his namesake from The Princess Bride. It was ordered from Etsy, but I’m having trouble finding the link to the store right now.

Antique Buffet: This beautifully worn down piece of furniture once belonged to my great-grandmother. Although she’s no longer able to know the amazing man that I married or meet her newest great-great-grandchild, there is still a piece of her in this room. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Solar System Mobile: Handmade by us. Pinterest, and our love for all things nerdy, definitely inspired us here. I used this as inspiration and this as a guide for making the planets.

Bike Spokes Painting: Also by me. One of my absolute favorites.

Platter: This was a Christmas gift from my grandmother. I knew it would make the perfect addition to the nursery, as well as help keep the changing area organized.

There you have it! I love this space so much already. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve just gone in there, sat down, and imagined my life with a little baby boy in my arms.

westley + me

I’ve had the hardest time finding clothes for the little man on the way. I want to keep it simple while making a statement at the same time. The statement should be: “Hey ladies, you won’t find me in a john-john or in some smocked crap. I’ll be by the pool in my striped shirt making you swoon. P.S. I’m probably bald, too. Hot.”

H&M is the only place I’ve been able to find the perfect pieces at really great prices ($6 for cute onesies!). Problem: we don’t have an h&m and they don’t do online ordering. Say WHAAAAAAT?!?

No bother. My girl, Alida, has a list and a check from me and is doing some shopping for Westley in Seattle! The photo above shows all of the cuteness I’ve picked out for him. I added a few easy-access pieces for myself on here, but Alida’s not shopping for me. Either way, I present to you the perfect pieces for a late-summer baby AND a new mama. It’s funny…I didn’t realize until recently that I have to choose my post-pregnancy clothes wisely. If I can’t get into it quickly, I’m not spending my money on it. (hehe…Drew might like that)

westley & me

Baby registries are for those essentials that a mom feels she absolutely needs when the baby arrives, but wishlists are for those little extras that make life with a baby (or bump) complete. I’ve put together my own little wishlist for Westley and me, which includes adorable little additions such as baby leg warmers and a super cute owl night light. And what little boy can live without a Radio Flyer? And that owl hat…I die. I’ve also added a few things for myself, because a mommy-to-be should pamper herself, too, right?

Click on the photo to see this wishlist on Pinterest and to get links to where these lovely items come from.

P.S. You should know that I swoon over anything from BabyGap. Just giving you fair warning.

Minty Fresh

Cardigan: F21 // Dress: Francesca’s // Belt: came w/ Target blouse // Necklace: J Crew Knockoff via Ebay // Pumps: Shoe Station

I absolutely adore this necklace! What a statement piece! I got it for $20 on ebay. It’s a total knockoff of the $150 J.Crew version, but I’ll take it. Who said my standards were high when it comes to large pieces of jewelry?

As soon as this necklace arrived in the mail, I went searching through my closet for the perfect outfit and decided that a nice color-blocking action would be perfect for it’s first spin. I believe this gem will be lighting up my casual St. Patty’s day ensemble as well. Hooray for affordable knockoffs!

P.S. That’s a 17-week baby belly right there. Almost halfway!

Cure for the Rainy Days

Tee: Old Navy (very old) // Red Skinnies: Gap Outlet // Leopard Flats: Target

It’s been raining every day for the past week. It feels like Seattle, only not nearly as awesome. I’m sure when the sun comes out I’ll be looking for Mt. Rainier to grace me with her beautiful presence… I wish.

My only cure are these red pants. And homemade vegetable soup. And chocolate. Okay, so there’s more than one cure, but they are all equally amazing. These pants? They embarrass The Hubs, which makes them even more amazing.

You can’t tell due to the contrast in this picture, but I’m really showing now. The belly has popped and it is still unbelievable when I look down. Maybe the next outfit will show it off. Until then, the countdown to “Does It Have a Penis Day” is on. March 16th, people. Now taking bets. All proceeds will go to the nursery fund.

The Midi :: Your Thoughts

Tee: Gap // Skirt: Dorothy Perkins // Pumps: Pierre Dumas via Shoe Station

Why yes, that IS a shameless baby bump pic. But who cares about that, because the point of this post is for your opinion on this skirt. So many lovely ladies can style the midi just right, but is it right for me? I kinda think I need to get it hemmed a few inches so that it falls just below my knees, then wear it with a striped tank top and some flat sandals. What are you thinking?

Let’s Try This Again

Dress: Purse Picasity (Local Shop)  //  Wrap Cardigan: Old Navy  //  Pumps: Pierre Dumas via Shoe Station

I recently rediscovered (and learned how to use) our tripod, which makes the whole “take pictures of my outfits” thing way easier. In the past, I would balance my poor Canon Rebel on top of my dresser on the far end of my bedroom, which created crooked, zoomed in, blurry pics. Already, this is much better quality! So I thought I’d try posting outfits again. What do you think? Do you even care? My goal is to document this pregnancy in a way that shows that you don’t have to buy maternity clothes to rock the bump. That’s all I’m sayin.’

Happy Wednesday!

P.S. Notice the bare legs in January? That’s Mobile, Alabama for ya. It’s January and I already need a tan. For serious.
