Playing Dress-Up

Boyfriend Shirt: Dillard’s;  Belt: Came with a separate Target dress;  Skirt: Thrifted;  Pumps: Thrifted;  Necklace: Claire’s

Since I am casually dressed most days for work, and do not feel that my ensembles are worth blogging about, I’ve decided to play dress-up every now and then.  I will put outfits together that I would wear on certain occasions.

This outfit is going out attire at its most comfy!  I love the soft oversized feel of the boyfriend shirt and the contrast between it and my little lace mini skirt (aaahhhh!  I wish you could see the lace!).  I could only wear this skirt out for a night on the town because its very short and very tight…but super cute nonetheless!

Those pumps are a perfect example of thrifting gone AWESOME!  I found these babies at Goodwill for $2!  They are perfectly fine, but the heels were a bit worn.  I decided to fix that with some black electrical tape for the time being.  You can’t even tell.  It blends right in!

So what would you wear out on the town?

Lodi Dodi

Today, I sported my brand new red chucks The Hubs gave me for my super awesome 27th birthday!

Cardi: Target (Merona brand);  Blouse: Old Navy;  Skinnies: F21;  Chucks: Lady Foot Locker/The Hubs;  Old Key necklace: found in grandparent’s old house

(Special thanks to Billie for being my photographer for today.)

Is it strange that everytime I say “chucks” I think of that Snoop Dogg song….

Now I’m fresh, dressed, like a million bucks
Threw on my white sox, with my all blue chucks
Stepped out the house, stopped short, oh no
I went back in, I forgot my indo

Yeah.  I pretty much feel like an 8th grader again, but that song is the shizzzzzz.  Yes, I’m listening to it right now.  And yes, I know every word.  Awesome and sad all at the same time.

As for my chucks, I couldn’t be happier.  Thank you The Hubs!!!!!!  I love you!!!

Meet Noelle…

A few things you should know about my good friend Noelle:

1) She is my go-to girl for any Twilight/Rob Pattinson/Kristen Stewart movie news.  This is done via facebook.  It involves pictures.  I am forever grateful to her for that.

2) We met at her cousin’s wedding and have become great friends through facebook for the last year and a half.  Some people think that’s strange.  I think its awesome.

3) She has a blog. Its totes fantastic.  You should check it out.

4) I’m jealous of all of these amazing adventures she goes on.  In the last year she’s been to San Francisco, New York City, and on a cruise.  What?!?!?!

5) She got in her car and drove an hour to come see me for our first “date,” (lol) in which we went to the theater to see New Moon for the 4th time.  We counted 35 different plaid shirts in the movie.  I can’t make this up.

6) I will get in my car.  I will drive an hour.  I will visit her for the opening of “The Runaways,” starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.  Cant.  Freakin.  Wait.

7) I love her style.  This casual outfit of hers is great, and looks so comfy.  P.S. I’m WAS totes jealous of those chucks, but I got a pair for my bday!!!

Sweater: TJMaxx; Navy Shirt: Victoria’s Secret; Black Tank Top: Old Navy; Skinnies: Charlotte Russe; Necklace: Forever21; Shoes: Shoe Station

I love this casual ensemble because this is typical of what I wear to work during the week.  Sometimes I dress up, like for my fantastical birthday celebration, but most of the time, I just need to be comfy cozy while decorating cakes.

Noelle is not a fashion blogger.  She is an INSPIRATIONAL blogger. I love every post of hers.  She is so positive and upbeat in so few words.  I dig her style.  I dig her personality.  I like her.  Can you tell?

You can see me in my birthday suit.

Dress: F21;  Cardi: Target;  Tights: Target;  Boots: Nordstrom (Steve Madden Intyce);  Necklace charm: Old key from grandparent’s house

First of all, I would like to thank EVERYONE for the wonderful birthday wishes, the cards, the facebooks messages, the texts, the phone calls….

Just the fact that someone would think of little ol’ me on my birthday is humbling, but what’s with all the love?  I feel completely and utterly spoiled.  So thank you.  I love each and every one of you!

I started out my day with a dress.  Yes, I work at a bakery.  Yes, some coworkers (who shall not be named) wear pajamas to work.  Yes, I try to dress up when I can…even though I work at said bakery.  Well, since it was my birthday and all, I decided that nothing would keep me from dressing up on this momentous occasion!  Aaaand dinner out after work may have played a role in that decision as well, but whatevs.

Work was great!  My wonderful boss, Lauren (my outfit photographer for the day) cooked me some super yummy chili for lunch.  I was showered with gifts (seriously, thank you!).  I did a little shopping.  Then I had dinner with the best in-laws anyone could ever ask for!  They bought me some paint, brushes, and canvas so that I can start painting.  Can’t wait!

And check out this cake my fave coworker Brandy made for me:

That, my friends, is a chocolate mousse cake.  Call The Pastry Shop.  Order one.  Then, and only then, can you cross “Taste the best cake ever made” off your bucket list.  You’re very welcome.

My Taekwondo instructors and friends sent me this awesome e-card:

The chicken hatched out of the egg ready to fight and was dancing like a bad ass.  Just the way I like it.

And just in case you didn’t see it, the wonderful designer of my blog, Jeff, updated my logo to say:

Seriously.  He knows me far better than I thought.  Thank you Jeff!!!

P.S. My computer said “Taekwondo” was spelled wrong, so it suggested “wonderbra.”  Thanks for the hint, Firefox.

Dear Billie, I was wrong. Holey jeans ARE cool.

Dear Billie,

You are the sweetest friend ever.  You hardly ever look at me and say, “Oh no you didn’t” when I wear something a little strange.  Always supportive.  I like that.

However, my support didn’t go very far the day you told me you wanted to buy some holey jeans and I said, “Billie, NOOOOO!!!!!”

Was that rude?  I think it was rude.

Well, I’ve done some research, and I’ve come to the conclusion that holey jeans are actually pretty hot when worn the right way.  Want me to show you what I mean?  Yeah?  No?  Whatevs, I’m doing it anyway….

Please do…

Dress them down for that “I’m not trying to be sexy but am totes pulling it off” look.

Dress them up.  Yes, Billie, worn like this stylish lady, your holey jeans (not to be confused with Holy) can be worn on the job.  They won’t ask if you are going on a job interview, I promise.

Please don’t….

For the love of all things holey (hehe), do NOT do this to your poor jeans.  What have they ever done to you, other than protect your bare legs from harm?  Geez!  Might as well cut those suckers off at the thigh, Brandy, cause this look ain’t working for ya.

I’m aware that these aren’t technically jeans, but you get the point: Don’t be like Miley!  Oh, and don’t make that face.  It scares me.

I’m so sorry to make you see this, but your temporary blindness is a small price to pay for the chance of ridding the world of that.  ‘Nuff said.

Oh haaiiiii Kellen!  Yes, boys can wear holey jeans too.  Hey, is it just me or does he seriously resemble Nicole Richie in the picture above?  White v-neck…black tote…holey jeans…yep.  Twins!

So there you have it, Billie.  My take on holey jeans.  Can we get together and have a jean murdering party and make some of our own????

Goals for 2010

What I Wore‘s Jessica Schroeder is a firm believer in setting goals for yourself.  She accomplished so much last year simply because she put her mind to it.  So I plan to do just that.  I’m setting a few attainable goals for myself for the year 2010.  These 3 goals revolve around being creative, being environmentally friendly, and pushing myself to the next level in this wonderful game of life.

1) Learn to sew.

2) Design and refashion used clothes, making them new again (reduce, reuse, recycle, people!)

3) Begin selling refashioned clothing online, in hopes that others will understand the importance of reusing what we already have.

Here goes nothing…..

Its not that I want to buy anything right now (which I don’t) and its certainly not because I have money to spend (which I don’t).  Its just the IDEA.  I’m sad.  Sad I tell ya.  I’m beginning to think that our thrift stores are inadequate here in Mobile, Alabama.  I meeeaaaaaan.  Seriously.

Help me get through this.

Tell me its going to be ok.
