Fall Sparkle

While I see a ton of cute dresses and looks for the Summer-to-Fall transition, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing much in the way of clothing. I’ve noticed that my colorful Spring and Summer wardrobe has taken a turn back to basics lately. I’ve been wearing a lot of black, beige and white. I absolutely love the classics and the basics, but I’ve realized that I need more accessories in my life. So this Fall, I’m turning away from the dress rack and towards the colorful sparkle. These are what I have my eye on:

1. Delicate Gold Tone Necklace With Leaf And Coral Teardrop Stone

  • $30 – inpink.com
  • I’ve already bought this with the $40 InPink gift card I got in a recent giveaway. I love that it is extremely simple, but still has a little pop of color.
  • I’ll be looking for more jewelry like this at Francesca’s and the thrift store.

2. Floral Trimmed Scarf

  • $8.90 – forever21.com
  • Flashy scarves are definitely a must-have, since my favorite dresses are black and beige. Bring on the color!
  • Forever 21 is obviously the place to find these gems.

3. Essie Canyon Coral Nail Polish

  • $16 – liberty.co.uk
  • Ok, so this nail polish is a bit expensive. I’ll try to find a similar color in a cheaper brand, but isn’t it just the perfect shade of coral?

4. BDG UO Suede Pump

  • $50 – urbanoutfitters.com
  • MUST. HAVE. THESE. PUMPS. NOW!!! I’ve been wanting these forever, but they have been $60. They are $50 now. This may just be my one big Fall splurge!

5. Vintage Perforated Hip Belt

  • $105 – lpcollection.com
  • Don’t worry, I would never spend that much on a belt. Problem is, this is exactly the one I want!
  • I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled at the thrift store.

6. G by GUESS Multi Row Bangle Set, GOLD

  • $19 – gbyguess.com
  • I need more bling in my life these days. It really did work wonders when I wore an excess of sparkly bracelets yesterday. They were annoying and I absolutely had a hard time getting them untangled, but it was worth it for the extra boost of confidence.
  • Check out the photo of them here: http://yfrog.com/g03o8pj

And there you have it! How will you be amping up your style this Fall?

Serenity

We spent the weekend in the woods, with this amazing view. There was fishing, grilling, drinking and a whole lot of laughing. Laughter is all the medicine you need sometimes. While we’re all tired and sore, we are also refreshed and just plain happy. Just…happy.

Down

I haven’t said much lately. I could blame it on the fact that I’m now blogging for work, which could technically fill my blogging quota for the week. But the truth is that I don’t have anything to say. I’ve been quite depressed over the last couple of weeks. Now that I’m finally coming back around, I think I can divulge what has been in my heart lately.

Work. Work has been…different. We’ve had some recent changes in our department. Changes that have left me asking why and crying silently at my desk. I’m quite honestly scared for my future at work because I’m having trouble going with the new flow of things. But I will hold my ground and I will continue to be a hard-working, genuine employee. That’s the best I can do, right?

Home. We’re going through some changes here as well. I can’t really tell you about it, and NO I’M NOT PREGNANT, but things are changing and its scary and thrilling all at the same time. (Was that cryptic enough for you, blog friends?)

Body. I generally have a very good body image of myself. I don’t typically look in the mirror every day and say, “Ugh, you’re a fatty.” I love me for me and that includes my body. Drew always says that I could be 300 pounds and still look in the mirror and love my body. That is probably true. If you don’t love yourself, who will? But every girl eventually has that “gross” moment.  That moment when she looks in the mirror and is disgusted. That’s how I felt a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t even about the mirror – I FELT gross. I eat way too much in the course of one day and had the mentality that because I run, I can pretty much eat anything I want and not see any consequences. Wrong. So I picked up my running (from 3 days a week to 5) and lowered my calorie count. I basically eat less during the day and the same amount at dinner. The difference is amazing. In one week, I feel less bloated and have lost about 2 pounds. I’m happy with my body again because I FEEL better. Plain and simple.

By this past Wednesday, I had had enough of myself. I was sick of being down and depressed and throwing myself a pity party. I was sick of thinking like a negative person with a horrible attitude. I was sick of hiding in a dark, deserted room at work with my laptop, hoping not to run into anyone. So I took off work early and asked Drew what I should do to get out of this funk. He suggested I paint. Brilliant! I went home and spent the afternoon painting on canvas, cooking homemade red pepper soup and listening to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban audiobook on the loud speakers. It was a fabulous afternoon and it definitely got me feeling better all around.

I smiled a lot more the next day. And the next day. And today I think I may just be over that funk I was in. Thank you, Drew, for reminding me of the little things. Thank you, Booyah, for texting me to tell me that your skirt fell off in the grocery store. That certainly put a smile on my face. And thank you, Twitter, for putting up with my emo-ness over the last couple of weeks. I promise to spare you next time…if there is a next time.

P.S. Drew and I are planning to have so much fun next weekend! I’ll be sure to take lots of pics for ya. This blog needs more pics these days. Hell, this blog needs more ME these days.

Beautiful

I recently had the pleasure of taking senior photos for my former student, Hannah. I adore this girl. She’s independent and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She is 100% herself. 100% real. For a high school student, that’s hard to come by. You rock girl! Thanks for letting me snap some shots of you. I hope you have a fantastic senior year!

Pottermore

I got in! You have four days left to try to do the same. One million people will get the chance to try Pottermore before the rest of the world. I know that sounds like a lot of people, but in the grand scheme of Harry Potter, that’s practically nothing. Go to Pottermore’s Info Page for all the details. Good luck!
