On Bridges, David, and The Brits.

One year ago today, we woke up in Florence, Italy…on the coldest freakin’ day ever.  And all I had was a cardigan.  We only had half a day left in Florence, just enough time for another wonderful tour.

Sunrise on the Ponte Vecchio (the oldest bridge in Italy!) and my favorite picture of us ever.

This is the only picture we got of our tour guide.  She was very pretty and super sweet.  We were the only two on the tour, so it was a very intimate morning in Florence.

This was also the day we got to view Michaelangelo’s David.  It was…breathtaking.  Absolutely amazing.  We learned a lot about Michaelangelo that day, which was actually a recurring theme on our trip, especially at The Vatican.  Unfortunately, we can’t show you a picture of the actual statue of David because pictures are not allowed.  However, if you ever have the opportunity to go to Italy, please see David.  Please get a private tour and learn all about the creation of David and the works of Michaelangelo.  You won’t ever forget it.

Immediately after our tour, we hopped on yet another train and headed to our final Italian destination: Venice.  Let me just say that Florence may have been our favorite city, but we had the most fun in Venice.  Thanks to these two Brits we met on the train:

Meet Chris and Mo.  We hit it off immediately.  After Mo called The Hubs a “pervert” in the most adorable British accent ever, I knew this was a match made in heaven.  We made plans to have dinner the next night, our last night in Italy.  More on that tomorrow…..

The view from our hotel room.

For our first night in Venice, we just walked around and took it easy.  We ended the night with the most spectacular tiramisu I’ve ever had.

Tomorrow:  On Chinese food in Italy and getting pissed with The Brits.
